New TV Shows for Fall
Well, I've been running marathons of pilot episodes of the possible fall TV line ups.
Some shows have had buzz prior, others I'd never heard of.
One of the best shows of the bunch is Traveler.
TRAVELER: Jay, Tyler and Will were friends who had spent the last two years in grad school living together. They were about to go on a summer journey, but a simple prank to rollerblading through one of New York's most famous museums made Jay and Tyler prime suspects in a terrorist bombing that destroyed the museum a few seconds later. Jay and Tyler hoped that Will could clear their name, but discovered that they had no way of proving Will ever existed.
One of the most talked about shows was Heroes, which I was very unexcited about after viewing. A group of random people discover that they hold the powers to do random feats. One girl has the ability to heal herself from broken bones, burns, you name it. Another can fly. Another can teleport. The pilot unfolded in a way that showed that these people will at some point unite and do... something. There was a subplot of a lunar eclipse, but it really had no effect one way or the other as most of the cast already possessed their powers prior to the eclipse. But overall, I think we're kinda over the super powers bit. The 4400, another show about people with strange abilities, has done a fine job of that.
Other shows that were good in their pilot stages were The Nine. The Nine was about nine hostages that were held during a bank robbery who have had their lives changed forever. How this can go on for season after season, I don't know. And will I, or anyone else want to tune in each week to see depressed, confused and down-and-out folks go through their lives... don't think so.
Other shows viewed: Aquaman, Secrets of a Small Town, Our 30s, The Singles Table and the BBC comic/drama Sinchronicity, which has actually started and it quite good, as most BBC shows are.
